An imposing miners’ memorial can be found in the heart of Hednesford. It stands in tribute to those who worked in the Cannock Chase coalfields. The tribute consists of some 3,500 bricks with the names of those who worked in the pits. It’s completed with a giant replica lantern in the centre.
Hednesford Hills raceway is a great attraction for lovers of speed and adventure. It’s home to the fastest quarter mile oval in Europe, and has hosted events for more than 60 years. The track hosts a variety of disciplines including a renowned annual national championship race. More information can be found here.
As the home of Hednesford Town Football Club, Keys Park is an important landmark.
The Pitmen now play in the Evo-Stik League and have enjoyed some success in recent seasons. Keys Park is also available to hire for corporate events, more information can be found on the Hednesford Town Website.
If nature is more your thing then Hednesford doesn’t disappoint, Hednesford Hills is the gateway to Cannock Chase, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Hednesford Park has undergone a massive refurbishment thanks to a £2.2 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund Grant. The museum’s exhibits showcase the region’s coal mining past through a compelling interactive mining gallery.Cannock and Hednesford’s important role during the World Wars is also highlighted. This full-size floodlit sports pitch can be hired in its entirety or partitioned for smaller games such as 5-a-sides.
